Being on the road for 7 days wasn't easy but I can't wait to do it all over again. Our trip started from San Diego to Las Vegas. We stopped by at the Seven Magic Mountains. It's off the I-15, the main route between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. While most land art blends into the landscape, the bright colors of Seven Magic Mountains make it stick out.
We stayed in Vegas overnight to recharge.
The next morning we headed to Zion National park which was about 2 1/2 hour drive from Las Vegas. Zion is a beautiful canyon park that offers some very unique hiking experiences.
The colors of the rock mountains and the ways the rock is cut is amazing. Many of the views are breath taking. The two most notable trails are the Narrows and Angels Landing. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see Angels landing due to the flash flood (Bummer!)
Note that there are no showers at the campsite but I was ready and brought our own portable shower! If you don’t have a portable shower don’t worry, showers are available outside the campsite for $5 for 4 minutes. Zion is definitely one of the most beautiful places I’ve been and I would definitely go back.
From Zion National Park we headed to Bryce Canyon. The drive was almost three hours but it was never boring. The drive was scenic and mesmerizing. It’s a gift of nature - priceless and unforgettable. I just wish our cameras captured every beautiful details we saw along the way. Once we got to Bryce Canyon, we were greeted by this beautiful, gigantic arch of a rock. It offered a lot of cool pockets to explore. But we ventured on the shuttle bus to see the largest collection of hoodoos that make up the Bryce Amphitheater.
From Bryce to Page, Arizona, we took upon the heat and hiked 1.5 miles to Horseshoe Bend. The view was totally on another level. The only phrase came to my mind when I saw it was “out of this world!” To end the night, we drove back to Vegas. I would say 4 very long hours of driving. At this point, everybody was exhausted and ready for a nice shower and comfortable bed.
Finally, we made it at 4:00 in the morning, stayed at the Flamingo Casino and Hotel for 2 nights (Wohooo! Finally fresh shower and BED!!!).
The Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon and Horseshoe Bend are must see places that everyone must visit once in their lifetime.
I love being on the road, it's fun, full of adventures. It's a way for the whole family to spend time together and annoy each other in interesting new places. And like other people always say... take vacations, go on a road trip. You can always make money but you can't always make memories. Here's some of the highlights of our family road trip.
"Sometime the road you travel doesn't lead to the destination you had hoped for. But if you can look back on the trip and smile…then it was worth it."
